The St. Paul College Club is a stunning historic wedding venue in the Summit Hill neighborhood. It combines historic charm and a welcoming ambiance for an elegant, cozy wedding experience. This wedding took advantage of the club’s stunning interiors and gardens to create a relaxed and joyful day. I documented it with candid photos on film and digital.
A Wedding at the St. Paul College Club
The St. Paul College Club is a beautiful Georgian Revival-style mansion. China blue walls and white trim create an airy, welcoming atmosphere. Walking into the mansion feels like walking onto the set of Emma.
Inside cool wallpaper and tall windows offer great backdrops for wedding day moments like your first look. The beautiful staircase in the entry is perfect for this. Some marriers have their florists decorate it with garlands of flowers and greenery. The effect is pretty magical!
Outdoors the gardens offer an ideal spot for a ceremony or cocktail hour. This wedding featured an outdoor ceremony in front of a grove of trees. It was a beautiful way to celebrate the natural beauty of the area.
Because there’s so much indoor and outdoor space available, it’s easy to move seamlessly between the parts of your wedding day. Guests flow from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception with ease. Meanwhile you get the chance to step away for a few private moments if you want.
The St. Paul College Club is more transparent than most wedding venues about pricing. (You can see their full sales sheet here.) Here’s a quick rundown of the most important details.
Starting Cost: $12,000 for a Saturday during Peak Season (May – October); $9,900 for an Off Peak Saturday (November – April)
Guest Capacity: 200 in the garden; 175 in the Great Hall; 50 in the Living Room
Venue Type: Indoor/outdoor
Catering: In-house
Getting Ready Suites: Multiple available
A Historic Wedding Venue in Summit Hill
The building that houses the St. Paul College Club was built in 1916, but the club didn’t purchase it until 1949. Before that, it was a private residence – one reason there’s plenty of space for all of your wedding day activities.
This wedding venue is located on the west side of St. Paul in the Summit Hill neighborhood. It’s easily accessible from Downtown. You can make the drive in under ten minutes, depending on traffic. That opens up lots of possibilities for photos at other locations if you have your heart set on it.
Summit Hill itself is beautiful with lots of historic houses and tree-lined streets. The club is just three minutes from Treats, a favorite spot for bubble tea and ice cream. If you need a quick break from the wedding day activities, you and your new spouse can sneak away for a sweet treat.
A Wedding Venue with a Mission
As beautiful as the St. Paul College Club is, my favorite thing about it is their commitment to give back to the community. They have a proud history of contributing to some amazing initiatives. The club houses the American Association of College Women (AAUW). This national organization promotes educational equality for women in higher education. The club donates a portion of proceeds from every event to the AAUW.
Some of the organizations that benefit from proceeds from events at the St. Paul College Club include
Violence Free MN AAUW Scholarship Trust
Women’s Consortium Highland Park High School Robotics Team
Division of Indian Works
In my experience, marriers feel good knowing that the money they spend on their wedding is going to benefit something greater than themselves. The St. Paul College Club definitely gives you the chance to do that.
